about
Anne Mills and art therapy
In
private
practice
from
1990
to the present, Anne Mills specializes in
the treatment of survivors of early severe trauma, particularly those
who are highly dissociative. She provides resiliency-focused treatment
for adolescents and adults who have experienced difficult transitions
such as illness, bereavement, and loss of job, status, or culture.
Former chair of the Research Committee of the American Art Therapy
Association, Anne has published extensively on assessment and trauma
treatment. Anne is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and
Reprocessing (EMDR) and clinical hypnosis. She has taught at a number
of universities, and is former director of the Art Therapy Program at
the George Washington University. Anne was honored by her peers in 2006
with the inaugural Professional Scholarship Award of the Potomac Art
Therapy Association.
